The QUILT Project, Second Edition

This year's culminating project will take a different twist than last year's American Literature Quilt squares. First, all four classes will participate in the creation of the project. That means there are almost 60 more minds and imaginations, almost 120 more hands to help put the masterpieces together. Just think what we can do! Second, we can cover more literary territory. Students who have been with me a year can cover materials from both semesters. They can draw from the multicultural readings, also. Students who have been with me just this semester can draw on the authors and works we have covered this semester. This is an exciting project, and I am looking forward with great anticipation the brilliance which surely will emerge.

Assignment:

Create a banner (size to be announced) which represents a period, style, author, or other aspect of American literature.

Incorporate quilt squares into the design (what else is so American?).

Utilize the Scanner, computer fonts, and photocopies.

Reflect the highest quality craftsmanship!

Have fun! Show what you know!

Class assignments:

3^rd HR: Any aspect of Modern American literature

4^th HR: Any aspect of literary terms or Modern American literature

5^th HR: Any aspect of early American literature OR women in American literature

6^th HR: Any aspect of multicultural American literature OR the fundamental philosophies of American literature
