Well, with the music department at my university, the professors need to
have notes placed on their doors because they have no telephones!!!  The
only department on campus that does not have at *least* voice mail.  You
get to phone into the department secretary, and she will scribble out a
note and hoof it over to the appropriate building/office when she gets the
chance. 

No wonder they're technologically challenged!

Here, this is somewhat true...actually, the ones who don't even touch their
computers are the old crooners like Jon Polifrone and Joe Kennedy. :-)

Actually, when I found an email address for the head of the voice
department at Northwestern (Dr. Alderson), I emailed him and he called me
in my office the very next morning! I was amazed. And I have corresponded
with the head of the opera program at Yale (John Baril) via email, as well
as the voice teacher I want to study with at Northwestern (Bruce Hall).
