Capture/Recapture Sampling
Project
QUESTION: How could a researcher determine the total number
of animals in a certain area? For example, how many deer are in a
forest, how many fish are in a lake, or how many seals are on an
island?
OBJECTIVES:
MATH: LEARNER OUTCOMES:
- Students will be able to solve ratio problems. (LO 2B2)
- Students will be able to find the volume of right solids. (LO

- Students will be able to collect, identify, and interpret
data. (LO 6A1)
- Students will be able to analyze data and make predictions.

- Students will be able to construct tables, charts, and
comparisons. (LO 6C1)

The student will:
- find population sizes and densities from given data
- demonstrate the ability to draw conclusions from collected
data.
- replicate an experiment.
- analyze the results of an experiment.
- identify possible sources errors in a scientific experiment.
- use models to interpret scientific phenomena.
- use the scientific method.
